Providing Hope through Education

We've done some things this year- a walk-a-thon for the March of Dimes and one for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. What's next? Take a look:

Currently in the planning stages is a school supply drive for the City Mission in Cleveland, OH. The City Mission provides services for the homeless including services for children affected by poverty. Check out their website : The City Mission

The parents of these children have so much to worry about. They have more basic needs to meet that often don't leave them with many, if any, resources to get the supplies their children need for school. Let's help provide some hope to these kids that there are better things to come and provide them with the tools they need to succeed in the future.

Want to get involved? Buy some supplies (backpacks, pencils, notebooks, markers, etc.). Office supply stores often have supply lists handy for local schools. Use these to get ideas of what a child might need. Send me an email or post a comment if you are in the area and would like to participate. I can provide contact info at the Mission for drop off. If you aren't near Cleveland, don't let that stop you! Contact a local shelter near you and help give a kid a chance.

And don't keep it to yourself...recruit loved ones to the trenches. Challenge them, and yourself, to do something this month, no matter how small, for someone else who needs it and help make the world a better place. Thanks for all your efforts!

Changing the World, One Month at a Time

I'm tired of it. And it makes me angry. Seeing pain and suffering around me...witnessing the apathy people have towards one another...feeling like the legacy we are leaving our children isn't what they deserve.

Studying people as I do and being a connoisseur of history, I am beginning to worry as our economy grows worse and the news more sad, that the time will come when we will all need each other to survive. My fear is that when that time comes, no one will care. We'll all be so blinded by our apathy that no one will notice anyone is suffering anymore unless it is themselves.

I've never been one to complain and do nothing about the situation, so I decided the time to act was now.

That's why I've decided to become the change I want to see. I'm going to change the world, MY world, one month at a time, and I'd like you to join me.

Each month, I intend to do something, ANYTHING, to benefit my community. Sometimes it might be simple. Sometimes it might just be planning. But at least I won't be sitting idly by and watching life happen without me.

Stay tuned to see the things I do, both alone and with my family and friends. I encourage you to get involved as well and see what you can do to make the world a better place.
